WHAT WE BELIEVE
-
The Scriptures InspiredThe Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to humanity, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.
-
The One True GodThe one true God is revealed in Scripture as the eternally self existent "I AM," the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of humankind. God is further revealed as embodying the principles of relationship as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
-
The Deity of the Lord Jesus ChristJesus is God come in the flesh. He existed in eternity before He was incarnated (in flesh) at which time He became both Son of God and Son of Man. Before the incarnation He was the Word of God through whom all creation came into being. God’s word became flesh and dwelt among us for the purpose of becoming the sacrifice, once and for all, for the forgiveness of sin so that all humanity might be reconciled to God through Him.
-
The Fall of HumanityHumanity was created good and upright; for God said, "Let us make human beings in our own image, after our likeness." However, we voluntarily chose to sin and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God.
-
The Salvation of HumanityOur only hope of salvation from sin and its eternal consequences is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift received through repentance and faith.
-
The Ordinances of the ChurchBaptism in Water The ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded by the Scriptures. All who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. In doing so, they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in a new life. Holy Communion Holy Communion/The Lord’s Supper is meant to be a memorial ceremony – a time to remember the finished work of Christ on the Cross, All believers are encouraged to participate.
-
The Baptism in the Holy SpiritAll believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church. With it comes the receiving of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry. This experience is distinct from and occurs after the experience of salvation.
-
The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy SpiritThe baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God enables. The speaking in tongues in this instance is the same in essence as the gift of tongues, but is different in purpose and use.
